• You can learn about the details of the technology competency requirement for students.

• If you are a Hunter College School of Education student who is required to master these competencies, you can log in as a student and begin your work.

Students go through three steps in the process of developing and proving their competence:

1. Assess themselves by understanding each competency and viewing illustrative examples.
2. Develop each competency through online tutorials or assignments embedded in coursework.
3. Prove their competence by submitting evidence online.

The list of competencies is based on many sources, including:

• the 1997 National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers from the ISTE;
• the 2007 draft National Educational Technology Standards for Students from the ISTE;
• Integrating Technology: A Practical Guide from Allyn & Bacon;
• The Framework for 21st Century Learning, from the Partnership for 21st Century Schools.
